Student Support Services/Learning Support Specialists

A Learning Support Specialist in Legacy online K12 school plays a critical role in ensuring

all students have the tools and resources necessary to succeed in their learning journey.

Their responsibilities often include:

  • Student Support: They work directly with students who may have different learning

styles, learning difficulties, or special needs to help them achieve their educational goals.

This can involve adapting teaching methods and materials, providing additional tutoring,

or working on strategies to overcome specific learning challenges.

  • Collaboration with Teachers: Learning Support Specialists often work closely with

classroom teachers to design and implement strategies or modifications to the

curriculum that will help students with different learning needs. They can provide

suggestions for different teaching methods, create individualized learning plans, and

help teachers understand how to best support their students.

  • Parental Involvement: They serve as a vital link between the school and parents. They

communicate regularly with parents, updating them on their child's progress, addressing

their concerns, and advising them on how they can support their child's learning at home.

  • Assessment: They play a role in assessing students' learning needs and progress. This

can involve administering tests, observing students, analyzing data, and making

recommendations for educational strategies based on that data.

Counseling and Mental Health Resources

We offer a range of Counseling and Mental Health Resources to ensure that students

have access to the assistance they may need. Here's an overview of the services and

resources available:

  • School Counselors: Our dedicated team of school counselors is available to provide

individual counseling sessions for students. These counselors are trained professionals

who can offer guidance, support, and a safe space for students to discuss their concerns,

challenges, and emotions.

  • Group Counseling: We organize group counseling sessions on specific topics, such as

stress management, coping skills, or social skills development. Group counseling allows

students to connect with peers facing similar challenges and learn from each other's

experiences.

  • Mental Health Education: We believe in promoting mental health awareness and

education. We conduct workshops or awareness campaigns to foster a supportive school

community that understands the importance of mental well-being. Our school also offers

wellness programs that focus on various aspects of well-being, such as mindfulness,

relaxation techniques, and self-care practices.

Understanding Student Needs and Preferences

At Legacy Online School, we understand that each student is unique, and their learning

preferences may vary. We offer two distinct programs to cater to different learning styles:

self-paced and group learning. Whether your child is enrolled in the self-paced program

or the group learning program, we value their feedback and strive to ensure their

educational experience is fulfilling and effective. If your child expresses a desire to withdraw from their current program, we encourage

open communication and would like to understand the reasons behind their decision.

Your child's academic success and overall well-being are our top priorities, and we want

to address any concerns they may have in a timely and supportive manner.

To facilitate a smooth transition and help your child make an informed decision, we offer

a unique opportunity: one month of free studying in a different program. This allows

students to experience both the self-paced and group learning environments firsthand

and determine which program aligns best with their learning preferences and goals.

During this transition period, we encourage parents to reach out to our dedicated

learning support specialists. Our specialists are here to provide guidance, address any

concerns, and work with you and your child to find the most suitable learning path.

Your child's feedback is invaluable to us, and we are committed to continuously

improving our programs to meet the needs of all students. Together, we can ensure that

your child receives the best possible education and support on their academic journey.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to

discuss your child's educational experience further.
